You can see if they are sheeding if you look at the base of the spike after a good soak in the tub you can see the ring of shed . IF YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE IT IS SHED DO NOT PEEL IT .. I have seen to many people pull spikes off doing this . I have even had one that had a scale removed from his head because the kid that had it thought it was shed and pulled it off with tweezers . As a General rule after a long soak in the tub most of shed can be seen . I would again add the more they have to rub on and climb on the more they will do this themselves . If for some reason you must pick and peel as many poeple have the compulsion to do please take care if it requires more then a soak and a rub to remove it then it might not suposed to be peeled off ..
