I know this post is about a Collared lizard in an Iguana room but tetany (spelling) is a subject that I know some of you must know about. So here goes:
I noticed what seems to be muscle twitches in my male collared Lizard. In his thighs. It occurs even if he is just sitting on a rock. Can anyone confirm that I suspect it has to
do with the copulations that have been occuring since I put a female in his tank a couple of days ago. I have
never seen it before tonight. he seems healthy and he eats. I supplement him with miner-all and he has adequate uvb light so I don't think its MBD. I least I hope not.

I remember last year when I took him out of hibernation the last inch
and a half of his tail was kinked up very slightly. I read this as a sign that I was not giving enough calcium especially before brumation. That coupled with stretching my 5.0
bulb to 9 months. Since then I’ve stepped up calcium and will replace bulb every 6
months. The other thing is he’s been going through his “I only like mealworms phase” and maybe they have not been as balanced with the Calcium/Phosphiorus ratios. I did
give calcium though. Thats all he ate since coming out of brumation 1 month ago. I kept the
worms thru the winter and i guess I could have fed them more veggies than I did. But I did include them in the worms diet. They ate mostly a mixture of chicken mash, oatmeal,
dogfood and powdered milk mixture that I mixed up a year and a half ago.
With all of this is going through my head. I am I being paranoid?
I gave him neocalglucon and more miner-all last night just in case.
So the question is: Do males thighs twitch in the days during copulation or is it a sign of MBD?
