I don't mind telling you (in case you hadn't already figured it out for yourselves) that I was nervous about the vet visit today. Once we met Dr. Miranda Smith however, my mind was at ease. She was so knowledgable, professional, and caring! You could tell that she loves Iguanas. I 'll try to keep this as short as possible. She has to have about a foot of her tail amputated. That will be done on March 2. Today she received a vitamin A&D injection. She also received a Baytril injection and we brought home three more to give her over the next week and a half. Her mouth is fine. They comented that she definatly had quite a bit of scarring. She had scars from the heat rock on her belly, legs and tail. She checked for signs of MBD and didn't detect any. She said that she could easily feel bone all the way up and down every limb. She is a bit on the light side. She weighed in at just over one kilogram. They will check the fecal sample and call me. She suspects that she might find parasites just from what I told her about her past situation. We'll see. She was impressed with what we have done so far and what we know about iguanas. I owe it all to you guys (and gals) on here! This forum is awesome and you should all be very proud of yourselves for taking the time to help these little green friends! The Dr. told us not to be afraid to "swim" her two or three times a day in the tub with warm water. She said that this is a very good way to help to stimulate the digestive system. Just as long as I remember to wash out the tub after with a 20 to one solution of bleach and water. She got her nails clipped too. Lucy was a big hit in the waiting room sitting up on my shoulder. People are natually drawn to these animals. they really are special. Thanks again for everyone's help. Russell, Cindi, & Lucy.
