I posted to the same thread in an attempt to point out that even if some felt the posts were strong they had valid reasons for being so. I see both points 1) she did ask a relatively simple question and 2) people get concerned when a question is posed the way she posed hers. IMHO No one made her defend her reputation as she had no reputation here to defend at that point. More often than not, someone asking a question like that is looking for a trophy animal not a companion -at the risk of overstepping my bounds here, I think that if she truely wanted an answer then people had a right to ask her why she wanted to know so that they might have a chance to educate her a little about iguanas on the whole if the need be. She chose to be one sided in her view of the thread, as is her right. Just as I am sure others chose to be one sided in their view of the post, as is their right. It seems to me that she chose to leave because she did not like the answer to her question. I have noticed in several other threads where people ask questions and get many answers and then only acknowledge the ones that fit their adjenda as being "intelligent". Again I say if you are not prepared to hear an answer that you don't like or don't agree with, don't ask the question in the first place.

I want to give you an example of something recent ... on another board someone posted that they think their iguana has broken its back, it had a lump on it and could not walk and they wanted to know, since it was only a year old, if it was worth it to take it to the vet. Even on my best day Xta, that post would have gotten the better of me. I am using this example because you want people to take responcibility for and give some thought to the way they respond to posts -I ask why is it not the same expected of the person posting?

I still admire you for posting this issue in the first place. I don't believe that you meant any harm in expressing your opinion. But I offer the same challenge to you in reverse - if you expect people to respond responcibly then you should also expect people to post/ask questions in the same manner. The weight of being sensible should not completely fall on those of whom it is being asked for them to help/share information/give advice.
