In Reply to: How unfortunate for your Iguana... posted by JohnT on February 10, 2001 at 14:47:40:
I really would hate to place such a burden on someone else - and potentially prolong the suffering. I am not a proponent on long term medical intervention to prolong an ultimately terminal case in humans let alone an ig. I have done my very best for this ig for over 10 years. There is compasionate rational behind my thinking. But an ig's life or any other kind of pet are not qute as sacred as a human.
I changed the name on this reply so that it may allow all of you to tie this message with others I have written in the past about her (Frozen Iguana). I was reluctant to even post on this topic, but I do care about her quality of life. I may appear to be cold hearted, but I am not going to go into debt for an ig that is nearing AARP age and may not even recover from the surgery. Any qualified vet is 2 hours away, and I work 50 - 60 hour a week. So it is a large burden just getting her to qualified help.
Sorry this is sooo long, but I really am struggling with this decision.
I am in south-central Ohio if anybody wants to try to convince me about an adoption.
Thanks,
SBowman
