I really don't want to argue about this, but... in addition to my ig I have 2 dogs and many, many fish and have ALWAYS!!! put QUALITY OF LIFE at the top of my priority list. The money is not an absolute issue, but it is relative. For example I have spent nearly $1000 on an electronic fence and collars for my dogs so that they have FREE roam on my 12 acres. They have free access to my garage through a dog-door so that they can get out of the weather. I have TWO dogs so that the one is not lonely when I leave. THEY ARE NOT IN AN UNDERSIZED KENNEL WALLOWING IN THEIR OWN FECES. THEY ARE NOT COOPED UP IN A HOUSE ALL DAY. THEY ARE NOT TIED TO A TREE WITH A CHAIN, HUNDEDS OF FEET FROM THE HOUSE. THEY ARE NOT LET LOOSE TO ROAM FREE WHERE THEY MAY BE HIT BY A CAR OR STOLEN. They receive love and attention every day. I did not own a dog until I was able to provide all of this. I almost never see dogs that have it as good as mine do. My fish are in large(55,58 and 110 gal) well planted(live plants) and maintained tanks. My ig enclosure receives much attention so as to maintain proper conditions at all times - including a BACKUP GENERATOR!!! for power outages. She has proper UV light, a waterfall for water and humidity, thermostatically controlled heat and various branches and perches for which to stimulate her mind. I do not know anybody else with and ig, but, based on what I read in these forums, I think I have done pretty G*d damn well to teach myself how to care for an ig.
ALL THIS SHOULD PROVE TO YOU THAT I AM COMPASSIONATE AND CARING ABOUT MY ANIMALS.
I am trying to save her life but I am also looking into funeral arrangements. Just as EVERY living person on this planet would do for a terminally ill family member.
This next example may be extreme, but levels of effort are all relative. If I was injured such that I required machines to breath and survive, I would not want to live that way(neither would my own mother). Not everyone would make that choice, but I WOULD. If I had an inoperable brain tumor, I would cut my losses and live the best that I could up until my quality of life reached an unacceptable level.
I HAVE CARED WELL FOR MY IG, AND I WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO, UNTIL I HAVE TO MAKE THAT TERRIBLE CHOICE - AND IT IS TERRIBLE.
Hopefully she will get better, and all of this won't mean s#!t.
If you have read my other posts, you may see that she has already died once, and I resuscitated her from the exact condition I inquired about (hypothermia). When I found her, she looked very peaceful and showed no signs of struggle. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON I EVEN ASKED THE QUESTION. If she had appeared to struggle, I would know that it would be cruel to do it again. They ARE cold-blooded animals and the DO behave and react differently than mammals. I just asked a question.
You almost make my point for me when you say that a friend lost their ig after the surgery. The ig is gone but the bill is still there. I do not want to be in that situation.
PLEASE GET OFF MY *$$
By the way, are you a member of PITA?
