: Her name is Lucy. We love her. We rescued her a week ago from someone who advertised her on a local bulletin board. We went to see her and knew right away that we had to have her. This is our first experience. We have four cats and six fish. She was being fed mice, cat food, dog food. We are feeding her salads made in a food processor and iguana alfalfa pellets. She is getting the hang of us and with a little persuasion, she will ride on our shoulders and sit on the back of the couch and check things out. She is shedding some. i do have a question. The last four inches or so of her tail is very stiff and it looks as though it could eventually fall off. Is it possible? Will it grow back if it does? Any helpful hints about general care of a new to us ioguana would be greatly appreciated. Russell & Cindi.

HI MY 3 YEAR OLD MALE HAS THE SAME THNG WRONG WITH HIS TIP OF TAIL. THE TIP OF HIS TAIL BROKE OFF THEN IT REGREW BACK 3 INCHES DARK COLOR AND HARD AND CRUSTY LOOKED LIKE IT WAS DYING. SO I GOT SCARRED AND TOOK HIM TO MY VET SHE CHECKED HIM OUT AND SAID THAT HIS TAIL REGREW BACK AFTER BREAKING OFF AND THE REASON IT WAS A DARK COLOR AND CRUSTY WAS BECAUSE THE BLOOD FLOW WAS CUT OFF AND BLOOD DIDNT GET TO THAT PART OF THE TAIL. THE VET SAID THERE WAS NOTHING TO WRRY ABOU AND THAT THE DARK PART WOULD FALL OFF BY ITSELF AND REGROW AGAIN. HE DIDNT NEED MEDICATIO FROM THE VET BUT I DO CLEAN IT WITH PEROXIDE AND OCCASIONALLY PUT NEOSPORIN OINTMENT ON IT . DID HER TAIL BREAK OFF ????? GOOD LUCK MAKE SURE YOU FEED HER GREENS LIKE COLLARD GREENS,MUSTARD GREENS ESCAROLE,PARSLEY,BEET GREENS, ENDIVE, TURNIP GREENS,SWISS CHARD,SQUASH,SOME FRUIT LIKE CANTALOUPE BANNAAS STRAWBERRIES BLUEBERRIES, SWEETPOTATOE,STRINGBEANS,MUSROOMS ASPARAGUS, ALSO MOST IMPORTANT MAKE SURE SHE HAS A GOOD BASKING LIGHT AND A ZOOMED IGUANA FLOURESENT TUBE FOR UV . LAST SPRINKLE A GOOD REPTILE VITAMIN ON THE FOOD NO MATTER WHAT ANY ODY TELLS YOU THEY NEED VITAMIN AND CALCIUM MIKE GO TO WWW.THATPETPLACE.COM OR WWW.BIGAPPLEHERP.COM OR WWW.HERPSUPPLIES.COM
