I respect your opinions, and since it's been a long time since I've written, I'm not sure who has accurate information for me, except for either of you. Lots of new folks out there. Lizzy is now about 5 years old. She has surgery a year and a half ago, for removal of 28 eggs, ovaries, and shell glands. She has been a very healthy iguana with a great apetite. She eats all the right stuff, all the greens and various squash, etc. with her calcium. Her lighting is fine. She swims/sits in a warm bath every morning for about an hour. I'm having a new, bigger cage built even now, since her old one is no longer deep enough. She free roams some, and likes to sit on top of her cage. (HD, her burn healed well and she can no longer touch her lights in any way.) She is 4 1/2 feet long and usually weighs about 7 to 8 lbs. During our ice storm over the Christmas holidays we were without power for 5 days. With warm baths, pocket warmers under towels, short uses of a generator for electricity, and snuggling her under my blankets, she survived OK. During that time her apetite dropped considerably, as well as her bowel movements. It seemed after a week or so, she was OK, and back to normal. However, over the last week she has eaten hardly anything. Her bowel movements have been much smaller, and it is taking her longer to do her thing. She is drinking a little water. I maybe be jumping the gun, but I called the nearest ig vet (250 miles away) and have an appointment on Jan 29, for blood work and whatever else she needs, just in case something is wrong. I just weighed her and she seems to have lost a little weight. The vet said to give her another week to see if she is just stressed. Do you have any suggestions? IZ's Mom, I know you have had a few battles with kidney problems (? I think). I couldn't remember the symptoms. Please help me if you can. Thanks so much.
