Sounds like you are doing the right thing to me... neosporin is a must and keeping it bandaged would help keep feces out of the wound (just don't bandage it too tightly). A vet visit is a good idea to be safe (just make sure the vet knows a lot about reptiles). Sorry to hear about the tail, Mike. Hope everything heals well.
