Teaching a Lesson on Rainforests and...

I want to take Squiggs into the class with me. The class I am student teaching in is a 5th grade science class and the kids are really well behaved. What sort of precautions should I take when I bring her in. I haven't decided if I will let the kids pet her yet. I know about the washing their hands and stuff but what else should I do to make Squiggs trip less traumatic or should I just not take her? It would be really neat though if the kids could see her. Any suggestions would be appreciated! :)
