It sounds like the kids would be getting a good bit of education about iguanas. I should think that if you had the kids wash their hands before petting your ig it should be OK. I usually don't let kids of that age hold my igs. I will , however, let them pet the ig on the back or sides gently, making sure you watch the tail movements. You for sure don't want them up near the mouth. You just never know, a sudden movement and the ig could snap. I would take the ig in a carrier to school with towels inside it so the ig will not be sliding around in the carrier. Make sure the kids are quiet when you remove the ig from the carrier. You could take a heating pad to keep the ig warm if you can't get it home right away after showing it to the kids. This would be fun for the kids....not knowing your ig...how do you think this would affect your iguana? Is he/she nervous or calm?
