: Merlin is doing fine. The other night he had a 3 1/2 hour adventure. My son had him on his shoulder in his bedroom and Merlin did his flying squirrel act off his shoulder and on to the floor and promply ran under the dresser and disappeared. The room was immediately sealed off and the search began. Everything was picked up, looked under and sorted through. It was a slow process and very carefully done. When he was finally found in a corner of the closet, he jumped into my hand. I wanted to tell him he was a bad, bad, little ig. But instead he immediatley looked up at me and told me "i was so scarced, i ran and hid, but no one came to get me. where have you guys been?" I almost had to laugh at the expression on his face. There was a point where I remembered some advise on this forum for setting up a light and food in the middle of the room to entice a lost ig out of hiding. But we found him. I think I am going to find that message though and print it out for future reference.

Good to see the little green fella decided to stop playing "Hide and seek" with you. I had a simillar episode the other day.
I was cleaning Gilbert's cage, so I put him out on the front porch to play. He loves it out there. He has room to run and jump (leapin' lizards!) and climb on stuff. He even has a new toy to climb on. Mom's old vaccuum cleaner. She has one of the covers that you put on them, that looks like a french maid. (you've seen 'em)
Mom came home, and I yelled to her to NOT let the dogs out, 'cause Gilbert was loose on the porch. She answered... "No he's not" ARRRRRRGH! I imediately went to the porch to find him. I looked all over the place. Checked his usual spots, either in the windowsill, or hanging upside-down under the lawn furniture (look..it's batman!) Didn't see him anywhere :(
Then mom starts laughing, and says.."Look at this" Gilbert had scaled the "maid" and was playing peek-a-boo over the brim of the straw hat that mom had put on her. Was the funniest thing I have seen in quite some time.
Wish I had the camera ready.....
