That sounds pretty noormal, you didn't say how old/big your ig is but I'm guessing because of his behaviour it's a juvinile. If your ig isn't used to you, you might try a different approach to "handling". Next time don't grab or pick up the iguana, just slowy put your hand in the cageand set it down on the cage floor (or in a branch, depending on where your iguana is at the time) if the iguana freaks close the door and try again later, if the ig just sits there then you can move your hand a little closer and stroke the ig on his side and belly. Do this very slowly and be sure not to make sudden movements when you do this. so for about another week or so just do this stoking thing and don't hold him. In a week let the rest of the forum know how he is doing (if he's less apprehensive when you reach into the cage or whatever) I hope this helps.
