: That sounds pretty noormal, you didn't say how old/big your ig is but I'm guessing because of his behaviour it's a juvinile. If your ig isn't used to you, you might try a different approach to "handling". Next time don't grab or pick up the iguana, just slowy put your hand in the cageand set it down on the cage floor (or in a branch, depending on where your iguana is at the time) if the iguana freaks close the door and try again later, if the ig just sits there then you can move your hand a little closer and stroke the ig on his side and belly. Do this very slowly and be sure not to make sudden movements when you do this. so for about another week or so just do this stoking thing and don't hold him. In a week let the rest of the forum know how he is doing (if he's less apprehensive when you reach into the cage or whatever) I hope this helps.
: p.s. On my web site some one posted an ad for some prehensile tailed skinks that need a home. if anyone is even remotely interested drop by the site classifieds and take a look. thanks
This is exactly what I did with my Ig Wolfgang when she was little. She used to be afraid of everyone she saw, Now she is one of the clamest igs I know, She quite often comes over to me and sits on me when I have her free in the room. She still gets very scared when there are a lot of people around, so I tend to not offer to show her to people when there is a group over, it really freaks her out, but when she's with me and one or two more people she's fine.
