: an elevated BUN is indciative of a decrease in kidney function ...
: elevated Bilirubin level indicates decrease in liver function ...
: the decrease in liver function is very probably directly related to the impaired kidney functions ... since the kidneys aren't functioning at 100%, it is putting more strain on the liver and overloading it ...

: my best semi-educated guess would be that this is an ig with renal problems, tho Draco is not necessarily in "Renal Failure", he *is* going thru a major renal crisis and most likely (like iZ) will forever more be prone to sudden dehydration/problems ...
: what gives me alot of hope for Draco is that his Calcium:Phosphorus ratio is *good*!!! i am hoping that this means his probs were caught alot sooner than iZ's were (good job Cynders!) ... no need for phosphorus binding meds, etc ... i would consider giving an antibiotic (Baytril) for 7-10 days on the chance that (like iZ) these renal problems are due to an undiagnosed/low-grade infection ... the Baytril would hopefully take care of that ...
: also very good that the CPK is normal ... would indicate that there is no muscle involvement in the current crisis ...
: Protein is edging towards the high side ... that'd be an indicator of dehydration ...
: i'd still go with the #1 priority being to get him rehydrated to get him thru this crisis and then after we all breathe a sigh of relief, we can make a plan for him ...

Hi Bon,
sorry i couldn't remember your name earlier :)
I have not long heard back from the vet, she has
no more idea than I do :(
but did say that she thought a course of antibiotics
may prove benificial *sigh*
I told her that baytril is used to treat infection
in iguanas but I'm really not confident dealing
with her. can baytril be given orally? I really don't
like the idea of this woman sticking Draco with any needles :(
As Draco has been eating up until yesterday,
I have just offered him some liquidised veggy juice/pedi
he kinda looked at it in the bowl as if to say ...
"I'm not eating that" so I got an old plastic spoon
and kinda persuaded him to try a bit, he seemed much
keener to take that than the water/pedi.
I figured that as he has been eating regularly this
would be OK, I hope so,any thoughts?
