Prednisone is an immuno-suppressant and so if infection is even *suspected*, prednisone should *not* be used or it will in effect *increase* the strength of the infection ... Prednisone should *not* be used at the same time as an antibiotic ...
actually it's methyl-prednisone (a form of prednisone) that is indicated for renal probs as it less of a strain on the liver ... (just if anyone's interested ...) *grin*
