I know that most of you spending endless hours, days, years teaching your igs to do a lot of the ig chores themselves. Things like going to the bath tub, toilet, favorite perches, and other such tasks that one normally has to pick-up the ig ( ig taxi service) and take them where they want or are supposed to go.
Well, I have avoided all that.
Joey, our biggest ig, has occasionally been put into her sun rooom enclosure so that she can look out and see the front yard, get UVB ( bulb ) and get fed. There is a large 4ft glass door to the enclosure that has to be opened and closed. Anyway, Joey has been either staying put in the enclosure or I have had to wrestle Joey out and take her to the bath, her favorite perching platform, the livingroom, etc.
Except that today, Joey was banging at the door, so I opened it up a crack, she got out and proceeded to wander all over without any guidance from me. So , I go to work and come home around 7pm. And guess what, Joey is back in her enclosure ( although she forgot to close the door )up on one of the observation shelves fast asleep. Thank god, this saves me a lot of time and playing hide and seek.
Also, Sydney the Sav, has been utilizing the Lizard Freedom Ladder that I build for her cage. It is a lot like a plank that goes on to a ship. She climbs down, rather than plopping down ( about 30 inches ) and can then wander the house until I come home. After wandering all over the house, sleeping in the sun provided by the sky lights, she has a favorite corner in a favorite closet where I can always find her.
Thank you lord for making smart, habitual lizards. And could you please start making some that don't always poop on the carpet.
