Hi all,
I have a big problem, and I need to hear from some of you TODAY!
Yesterday morning afte his bath, I noticed that Bobbit wasn't using his wrist and/or hand when he walked. It's not completely dangling, or anything like that, but he won't put much weight on it, and he has a limp. (He walks like a gangster.) He will still walk around, and has even climbed a bit today, just to make sure that Habib was still in eyesight (he always stalks her).
All of this, of course, comes at SUCH a bad time. We are leaving in the morning for a short weekend trip, (financed by Josh's family, thank goodness!) I want to have him see a vet before we go, but here's what I'm wondering:
How much can a vet do for a broken/sprained wrist?
I have an appointment for ten in the morning, and would not want to leave him untreated, but I do have to wonder what exactly they can do for broken iggy wrists.
Could any of you PLEASE write and tell me about your experience with broken/sprained iguana bones, and what the vet could do for them? Money is more than tight right now, thanks to the new Iguana mansion we're building out back. It's dimensions are: 8 X 6 X 4 and it's beautiful--complete with 4 foot hide box, bamboo climbing branches and silk trees, but I do want to get him whatever care he can have before we go.
I have $200.00 cash I've saved up for this trip (all the cash I have to my name right now) and I have no hesitation using the cash, in trying to get help for Bobbit, but would hate to fork over the only cash I have if the vet can only take a look, do some xrays and say, "Sure enough! It's broken. Take him home and hope he heals well!"
Please write and tell me what, in your experience, can be done. Is this the type of thing that just takes time to heal on it's own, or is it vital that he see a vet? Agian, I hope none of you get mad at my asking, because the obvious answer to medical questions is always, "See a vet!" but due to the fact that we're about to leave, and that money is practically non-existant, I was just wondering whether or not any of you can offer advice as to what a vet can actually DO for such a situation as this.
Please respond soon--I need to know what to do before this evening.
Thanks,
Diana
