I wnet into my local pet store in the mall yesterday and was horrified as usual when I saw the iguanas with no foo and no water, and a single plain light bulb for warmth and light. there was one iguana , near death , skin and bones and just laying there, I asked the sales lady regarding what they were going to do with this dying iguana and was told that was the owners pet, well I asked when was the owner coming in as this iguana needed care and was in bad shape if this was a pet,
Well I came back after work and asked for the owner and was told by the manager that she wasn't there, I explained why I was there and she told me to com back in 15 minutes, and she didn't touch and of the reptiles....I came back and no owner, the manger said she was next store eating with the friends, Well I waited and explained to the manager about the state of all of the animals and that they are dying and that they have been reported, they only get a slap on the hand, and the manger tells me that they have to get rid of everything as the mall was making them move out ( Yeah!!!)
Well I waited nearly an hour and finally the manager went out and went to talk to the owner and she came back and said, the owner said you can take it and it will cost you $20, I told her that I would take the iguana, but as she was in such a bad shape I wasn't paying for her. Well the manager told me to just take her and try to make her better, and that she was tired of all the animals dying. Well we had to pull the nails out of the cage in order to get to the iguana, who offered no fight, well other people had gathered around and the one guy said I can't believe you all are selling dying animals, well this made the manger feel upset and she told them I was taking the iguana and going to try and help her. The other guy went off on telling everyone about everything I thought I was the only one to notice, such as the other tanks being filthy and other animals dying.
Wel I got her home and put her in a tub of warm water and she drank and drank like I had never seen before. I then cage her a piece of Mango and she devoured it , She was really weak and couldn't eat much more , I then washed her filthy body ( and mite infested) and then put her in a temp. cage for the night, I will put her in a larger pen today, I don't know if she will make it, but at least I will give her a happy rest of her life.
Well I won this one, I trully rescued her and the store lost money and they don't have any money from her to go and buy another victom to take her place.
Any suggestions would be great
