(i don't know how to tell a *short* story, but there *is* a question at the end that i'd like input on ...)
just when ya think the good ol' happy-go-lucky iZ has returned, he has to prove me wrong!
ok, i admit i'm a baaaaaaaaaad humommy for ending up in the hospital with no notice + leaving him in hubby's capable hands for an entire day + 1/2 ... *sigh* ...
we did fine during bath-time and iZ got back-rubs like he's trained me and all was good ... til hubby poked his head in the bathroom and asked me something, oh man, talk about the evil-ig-eye!!! but he calmed down as soon as hubby left ... put iZ up on his supper shelf + he munched down happily ... til hubby came in + dared to talk to me again and then kissed me ... as soon as hubby left the room, iZ ran across the shelf to the other edge of it which ends just above my puter and starts to climb down, which is a no-no + also a huge immediate-attention-getting sort of thing ... so i grab him + he's posturing at me but calms quickly enough, so i put him back up on the other end of the shelf to finish his supper ... he thinks about it, decides he's full and comes tearing across the shelf at me again ...
he gets to the edge and i ask him in a stern tone if he wants to go "nite-nite" (which he knows means go up to his room) ... that slowed him down a sec ... then he postured + leaned at me ... oh geesh, i thought we were done with this crap iZ!!! i jumped up on the footstool and thru my arms up in the air and hissed at him ... he deflated immediately + so i did too ... well, i must've backed down too quick cuz he puffed back up and when i threw my arms up a 2nd time, he took a flying, teeth-bared leap at me! well, he's not as graceful as he likes to think he is and so instead of ending up face to face, his face was level with my chest and i grabbed him around his middle, flipped him upside down + around so he was facing away from me and marched him up to his room ...
iZ also seems to *Really Resent* my 2mo g-daughter! he doesn't mind the 2yo, but the baby is another story ... at first i thought it was cuz he doesn't like that wailing sound she tends to produce (+ i can understand that!) ... but the last week or so, he's just gotten very upset if i have any contact with the baby while he's on his supper/social-time shelf ... he used to just be happy hanging out in the living room on his basking shelf for a couple of hours before bed ... now, if the girls are here (i babysit them 3-4 nites a wk while their parents work) ... if the girls are here, iZ just can't seem to relax and be calm ... his head pales the way it does when he's stressed and he spends most of the time bobbing at me ... (or them?!) ... he really seems to resent the fact that i hold the baby the same way i hold *him*, up against my shoulder ... and OMG, if i pick him up in a shirt that has baby's scent on it ..... he blanches and gives me an evil stare + bobs in a way that has me carrying him with his face *away* from mine instead of cheek to cheek ...
now ... my question is .... do igs *get* possessive/jealous????? we seemed to be happily over mating season hormones for a couple weeks now and i was really enjoying being able to spend time with him again ... and ... i admit, i am definitely one who thinks animals think + have/show emotions ... but it just really feels like he's acting like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum cuz he's not getting *all* of mommy's attention!
do y'all think he really could be jealous and/or possessive????
