YES I think they can become jealous and possive with no warning.
Caesar was Dan's ig until my Gwar died,then he would come to me and pretty much leave Dan out of the pic.He was always by me and loving and sweet,,but oh look out if Dan came into the room!!!! Caesar thought he could fly and did try more times than not!!!
So even tho I'm in the same health situation as you,no hormones,he still saw Dan as a threat to his possessions is all we can figure out.
Bon please be careful and don't let your guard down.Remember,YOU were all his and now he has to share you with tooooo many other scents and activities.
