igs have salmonella, period ... it is *not* something that they need to be "cured of" ... the comparison to it being like e. coli in human guts is a good one!! salmonella will *not* harm your ig!!! it *is* transferrable to humans and that's why everyone stresses good hand-washing and not putting your ig's used plates in the kitchen sink, etc. ... but salmonella is *not* like parasites that need to be gotten rid of!!! and if your vet doesn't know this, i'd strongly recommend finding a vet who actually knows something about igs! 3 weeks of a strong antibiotic like Baytril *is* going to mess up your ig's gut *MORE* than any salmonella will!!! and as also mentioned, you run the risk of him developing a resistance to Baytril and if your ig *really does* need antibiotics in the future, you're screwed cuz Baytril is the safest for igs ...
take him OFF the Baytril and find a new vet!
