Now I need help.

Hey, everyone! Now I need some help. I saw a sub-adult iguana at a pet store today while buying mice and rats, and and i couldn't get my eyes off him (partly because of the price another the other because of it was soo cute, he is red and green and has a regenerated tail, for some reason i have a soft spot for igs with missing tails) and it turns out the ig was just abondoned in a box in front of the store, so they're selling it for $20. Well, it turns out I have an empty 4'x2'x4' cage that would fit him perfectly (he's only about 2 1/2'), So what should i do? would buying him be the right thing, because i've heard buying skinny herps because you'd like to help them out usualy end up dying anyway. i keep telling myself i'd be saving a life...
