Well, I haven't ever heard anything about human's reactions to renal failure, but then, human medicine isn't my bag. :) But I did have a couple thoughts....and if they are obvious to you or you've already ruled them out, please forgive me, ok? ;)

How near is it to the time when iZ usually goes into breeding season? Has he ever before? (I think I remember you talking about it once...) Is it possible that he is just going into season? It sounds very, VERY much like typical breeding season aggression to me, to be honest. I mean, it's possible that you're just relating everything to his kidney problems because that's so much on your mind lately?

Also, has he been out in the sun perhaps more than he usually is? Has he eaten anything new lately? Are you wearing something that he didn't like at all? My friend, Deena, has a couple skirts that she absolutely cannot wear, because they send her male, Jake, into a furious frenzy. ANother gal can never let her ig see her with a towel wrapped around her head! Strange but true. Were you using a new perfume? Did you smell like another animal? There are SO many inexplicable reasons that iguanas freak out! Ahhh! Another question, a rather delicate one: Did you happen to be mestruating at the time? That has been well documented as causing problems with alpha male igs, altho I have never seen it with my fellahs. Or are you perhaps trying a new kind of medication? All of these things could be factors, which I'm sure you know.

I'm just mentioning these things because the renal-failure thing, which I suppose is possible, sounds like a bit of a stretch to me. It just doesn't seem likely, altho I could be wrong.

Also, something to think about: An iguana who feels very bad, very ill, no WAY has the energy or the inclination to exhert as much as iZ did. He's got to have some pep in him, or I sincerely doubt he'd be flipping out like that. :)

: i know that there's a specific substance that is increased in acute renal failure humon's that causes drastic personality changes (ie: uncharacteristic aggression, outbursts, psychotic behavior, etc) ... i cannot for the life of me remember *what* it is and what the remedy is ... am thinking this could possibly explain the iZ-monster's sudden personality changes??????

: or ... it could be iZ + Harry have been on-line, unsupervised again ... (*grin*)
