we get weird posts here (MIKE!) and maybe i am just jumpy .... but snotty i am not .... i DID ask if i misunderstood your post .... that was NOT meant to be sarcastic .... REALLY!
i AM sorry for the misunderstanding!!!!! i AM glad that you came to ask questions !!!!
that's how we have ALLLLLL learned ..... i truly believe that there ARE NO stupid questions and i plead temporary insanity for being angry at someone ELSE when i answered your 1st post ....
plus a confession ... see... i DID NOT do ANY research before i adopted iZ .... i just jumped right in and rescued him from a baaad situation .... i'm VERY GLAD i did ... i LOVE him ... but when i think about how this ig adventure STARTED, it kinda scares me how naive i was ..... so i was REALLY NOT trying to make you feel bad!!!!!!
so.... can we stop fighting now and act like 2 adults who love animals????
OK!!! let's START OVER !!!!!!! *GRIN*
~~~~~~~~
Melissa Kaplan's Herp Care Site
http://www.sonic.net/~melissk/ig_care.html
~~~~~~~~~~~~
the above is a MOST EXCELLENT ig info site ....
highly recommended by igs everywhere!!!! and a
really good place to start.....
while igs can't climb a slippery surface, they CAN jump (tho very very UNgracefully!) .....my iZ is 4.5' long and when he stands on his hind legs, he could easily climb over something a foot tall .... he's also very creative and PERSISTANT when he want to get somewhere ELSE .... he got between a cabinet and the wall one day and after he stood on his back legs and realized he STILL couldn't reach the top of the cabinet (and my green plants!) he used his tail to boost himself 3' straight up ......!!!i ALMOST didn't have the heart to pick him up and move him away from the potted plants .....he'd worked sooo hard! *grin*
he's also got a basking perch in our living room and one day after we've lived here almost a year, he got into his head that he could probably take a flying leap and make it to the nic-nack shelf SIX feet away ...... he missed ... but NOT by much!!!!! (killed the plant he landed on ...but HE didn't get hurt ....just gave me that LOOK that says "i MEANT to do that!!!" .... yeah ... right!)
about the aggression question ... igs REALLY do NOT like change .... it took iZ a month to get back to his cheerful self last year when we moved ..... i'd worry how well "your" ig would adjust to having roommates (parrots)..... but maybe somebody else here could tell you for sure ..... do parrots like it really warm????? if yes, that might be the answer right there .... you could have a parrot AND ig room in one!!!! you'd just have to make sure there was ALOT of branches, etc. so they wouldn't all fight over the BEST spot!!!! (hee hee ... makes a funny picture ....)
about droppings..... most igs only go once a day (more or less) and MOST igs are "potty-trainable" .... iZ uses a litter box ALOT better than my pet rabbit does!!!! i would bet that if she's 4 foot long and has been free-roaming, that she IS potty trained in SOME way (jeeez... i'd HOPE so anyway ....*grin*)
as far as biting + mating season aggression.... i think males tend to go thru more mood swings than the females do ..... but i only have experience with males ..... with females tho, you'd have to watch her to make sure she doesn't get "egg-bound" .....
BEST WISHES!!!!!
let us know how it goes ok?
:P + :)

ps. glad you wrote back instead of just giving up on this board!!!!!
