The description you (iZ's mom) gave on Lasix....does that mean it is basically a diuretic (sp?)? If so, yes some of those CAN rob potassium (in humans) AND calcium. But since Q is covered on calcium, then I'd only worry about the potassium part and that is easily upped with either banana or that Ensure may have enuf in it to make up for any loss. I would have thought that this would have taken care of the edema but if he isn't "going" then it isn't getting out of there.
I can't help but wonder if a reptile can take a human equivalent of prednisone. It would also help the edema. A human would be given a shot of cortisone (same thing)and get relief. The prednisone is usually done on a 7-day dose pack that starts with X amount one day and tapers down to one pill on the 7th day. It can also be used long-term.
The swelling of the throat possibility that iZ's mom mentioned...that, too, is a possibility. T go back to the IML archives and see if you can find the one with the ig who had this and see what their vet had done. I remember reading about it so it had to have been in April or late March. I think there's might have been an infection causing it but I seem to recall that the vet treated the swelling.
T, I know you must be scared right now. You've come so far with Q and I'm so sorry that he isn't feeling very well right now. I will certainly add my voice to the prayers for his health.
Glenda
((hugs to both))
