I'll try to answer a few of your questions.

Color in Green Iguana's can vary from brown to bright lime green. Brown in color ( if no medical problems) is a sign that your iguana has come from the mexican region most likely. If green is present, then the iguana is more likely to have come from closer to the Central American region. Note" there is still 1 color I have yet to figure out the region for, Silver/white. I've seen a hold full of iguana that have a large section of a silver to white color in their structure ( mostly in the head area and the neck) And then, to top it all off, Ig3 has X....who is totally off the whole mapping system!! His coloring is completely foreign to me. It's almost like he's been breed with a salt and pepper spineytail iguana.
As for the tail area being white, it could be a shed making it that way. When iguanas start to shed, sometimes their skin turns a silver blue or white just before the skin is ready to come off. This may or may not be the case with your iguana.
Black marks should be closely looked at to make sure they're natural and not burns. Some burns will turn black in color. I"m not saying this is the case with your iguana, since I can't see it, but I feel I must warn you to keep aware of that possiblity. Always double check everything in the iguanas cage to make sure nothing is close enough to it, to case a burn ( heaters, spot lights,etc...)
Although, human fingernail clippers can be used, they're not the best thing. They tend to cause splitting in the nails, due to cutting only of two sides of the nail. We use clippers like dog clipers, which close completely around the nail all at once. cutting from every side. This makes for less nail injury when the blade is cutting completely around the nail.
Hope this helps some,
HD
