OK, I'm gonna get slammed for this, but here it goes anyway:

If you're going to feed commercial food, do your research carefully! I started my 2 Igs (they were adopted - just little babies that were being mis-treated. I'd never raised Igs, but I had plently of experience with snakes and skinks and such, and thought "how hard can Igs be?" *rolls eyes* I love 'em to death, but boy are they a pain sometimes) on a variety of salad combinations (ala chef Kaplan - http://www.sonic.net/melissk/aaabout.html is a slew of GREAT Ig info) but the dang things refused to eat anything but the greens out of the mix. Greens don't have much nutritional value, so I tried mixing without greens.....and they ate nothing. I mean, for days at a time. So I caved. I went out, did some research on recent commercial food offerings, and decided that Zoomed and T-Rex both seemed to have products that were based on sound Ig-related diets. I am NOT saying that they are the best diet for Igs - I'm mearly saying that I believe that of the commercial foods availible, they seem to be the best of what's out there, based on their ingredient list and independant lab analysis of their nutritional content.

Long story short, they loved the Zoomed stuff (which was a relief - Zoomed's offering was the #1, and T-rex was a close second in terms of nutritional value). Keep in mind that I am talking about the dry variety of juvie Ig food.

Which brings me to another point. Water. Dry food can cause dehydration, as most Igs get the majority of their water from their food. So my babies get all the parsely and Romaine lettuce they want these days.

And yes, the greens and the Zoomed dry food both get treated with calcium and vita suppliments.

Dan
