Hi, Bon!
When we rescued Bones he had a small abcess that I caught early and took to the vet to treat. Some of you may remember that one...it was my first time giving injections. Anyhoo, after the abcess was treated at the vets, she sent me home with some baytril and some needles, etc. She said to alternate legs I injected because multiple injections in one limb tends to lead to swelling. She said it isn't typically painful, but worrisome. SHe mentioned that she didn't like to continue treatments with Baytril for longer than a week or so, because of this. She said at the time, not a lot of research had been done about it, because it's not painful and it goes away. Long-term effects are uncertain at best. I know that iZ is on a long term treatment with Baytril, although I'm not sure how long he's supposed be on it. Can you let me know how long he needs treated? I'll take a look at Mader's book and see what he has to say about long term use of Baytril, and look at some other medications.

Bon, I know you've told me this before, but can you please tell me exactly what iZ is being treated for? I know it has something to do with his kidneys (at least I *think* so), but can you tell me specifically what the problem is? I'll read up on Mader's book, and see what kind of treatments he recommends. Let me know, will you?

Thanks,
Jamie/Buggie

p.s. sorry if this post was long and not very helpful. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it tonight, but you might call the vet in the morning and give him the lowdown.
J.

p.p.s My email is working again, you if ya wanna e me, it's ccross@theofficenet.com
