is there any reason to *not* give iZ "Gelusil" in tablet form? each tab contains 200mg aluminum hydroxide, 200 mg magnesium hydroxide + 25 mg simethicome ...
i need to start iZ on aluminum hydroxide again due to renal symtems recurring ... in the past i used liquid Amphojel with good results as far as lowering his phosphorus levels ... problem is that it *severely* constipates him *AND* he has gotten to the point where he downright refuses to take oral meds any more ... (can't really blame him ...) ... i feel the stress + potential for aspiration isn't worth forcing the issue ...
have tried to find Amphojel or something similar in tablet form so i can 'hide' it in iZ's food + get it in him ... there is nothing like that to be found in my area ... even the local compounding pharmacy has been unable to help me ...
am thinking maybe the magnesium hydroxide in the Gelusil would help prevent the constipation aluminum hydroxide causes and would be the best of both worlds????
iZ is a 4yo, 5'stl male ... he's back up to his pre-surgery/pre-illness weight of 11.5 pounds ... (*grin*)
thanx
