I'm assuming that u just got this ig but, even if you've had him for awhile I guess this would still apply.
It is his way of saying leave me alone. He's scared. You have to be very persistant. If you give up trying to hold him when he acts this way it is only reinforcing this behavior. If you go to pick him up, you have to do it no matter how he acts. He will eventually figure out that no harm is going to come to him and will hopefully settle down and enjoy it. Start by holding him 20-30 minutes a night when he is tired. Also talk to him in his cage whenever you walk by. Hope this helps.
