I think that the reason might be that females are sooo complex so they need the extra time to develope, hence the reason for more males at high temps....hmmmmmmmm......
Seriously, I have had this discussion once before ( don't remember if it was here or somewhere else) and the answer I got was that noone really knows. There where different opinions even among the "gurus".
However I have one chance now to get an answer ( scientific???? NOOO, but.. ). I have three babies born last year ( for those who remember, the babies born indoors, IN the exhibit, with NO helping hand ) and they where born in 75 days, due to high temps ( the others died in the eggs in the final development ) It will be very interesting to see if all three are males, beause it will give a hint.
OK, this will take some time, but anyhow interesting, huhhh? NO? OK!!??
