OK, finally got the set-up and the IG! Can igs see the red in a nocturnal red lights?
I didn't think they could? I am using one tonight to keep the temp up, I have
a 60 watt and it keeps one side about 82-86, the coolest side is about 78-80, is this
ok? Without the light it stays about 76 everywhere! I have the 24" ESU 7% UVB and I'm gonna use
an incadescent 40 watt during the day, depending on how the temps go, the room stays pretty warm during
the day with the windows and my other 3 aquariums, 55G 3 turtles--30G 3 baby turtles and all the basking and
UVB lights above them! Also my 20G with a Leopard Gecko! I cut him up some fresh green beans, squash, pear, asparagus, and
added some crushed up alfalfa pellets(rabbit food), got this from MK's site!
Also, got some collard and turnip greens, do I put the whole leaves in there for the IG to tear apart of chop them up real fine
like the other food???
The IG seemed pretty active, but relatively calm, my friend said he never messed with him and has had him about 3 months!
He does look like he could use a little more weight, very quick when you try to pick him up, but once you have him, he don't seem
to try and run unless you make a sudden movement.
Also, can't believe what happened same day I got this IG, friend I have not seen in about 8 months accidentally run in to him at Lowe's when I was getting some carpet for my IG and he has a 16 inch(head to tail) IG living
in a 10G aquarium and wanted to know if I knew someone that would take him, he was giving all his lights and everything away, said he paid right at $200 for the whole set-up when he bought the IG?
Made me mad, and I told him he needs a bigger place, just another IG given up, I might take him if he can't find a suitable owner.
I feel like an adoption home, but I know I will do all I can to care for these great reptiles! Just amazes me at the number of IG's out there kept in tiny places!
Sorry so long, thanks for all the info and keep it coming!! You can never get enough knowledge.........
Take care---------IG27 + Ziggy
