In Reply to: questions, questions, and more, I have my IG NOW!!!!! posted by IG27 on February 08, 2000 at 23:45:17:

Nice to hear that you got the little guy home. Hate to tell you this, but he is probably so calm because he is scared to death of you. Thinks your going to eat him. Just let him get adjusted to his new surroundings. Always talk to him in a calm voice. Cirsisue has a great idea about using one of your old t-shirts in the cage. That way they get used to your smell. Once he gets to know that you are no threat to him, his true personality will start to show. Then watch out. hehehe

If he is only 10" snout to tail tip he can get himself into more hidey spots than you knew you had. A safe place to take your ig to for holding at first is the bathroom. Shove a towel under the door so he can't escape under it and check for holes under your bathroom cabinets around the molding. Amazing how contactors leave holes where you can't see them. Our box turtle found that hole for us. Luckily we only had to remove the bottom drawer to get him and not the bottom of a cabinet.

You will probably want to cut the greens into small pieces. Later you might want to invest in a food chopper. We picked one up at K-Mart for about $20.00. Most items will need to be chopped, diced, and shredded.

It is amazing how quickly these little creatures manage to wrap us around their fingers. Hammock huh. Don't tell Sneakers, he'll want one.

Does your new ig have a name yet?

Joan (by the way, I think your ig is calling you)
