Confused, please help

I'm confused about breeding season. I read in an iguana book once that for captive iguanas breeding season can be in late winter/early spring. But then I read somewhere else that breeding season can occur anytime. How do you know when its breeding season for them? And how long does it last? I also read that breeding season can occur more than once a year, is that true, too?
