there's no real clear-cut for sure positive answer to this ... it will vary so greatly from ig to ig ... depending on it's age, it's health, where it lives, where it's from, it's housing environment etc, etc, etc ... yes, it *can* happen twice a year ... and as far as how long it lasts?? there's no set answer there either ... iZ is usually only *really* obnoxious for 3 days or so ... to the point where he stays in his room + wants NO human contact at all + room service delivers his meals ... (usually he comes down for supper + social time for the evening) ... after that, he's more grouchy than usual for, oh, maybe a week or so and i still have to be really careful around him ...

there's not really a *for sure* sign that your ig *is* in mating season either, tho once you've been thru it, you'll just kinda KNOW ...

do you have a male or a female??? i can only tell you about males ... you want to be *VERY* observant if + when he's in season ~ pay very close attention to any + all body language/signals your ig gives you ... well, you should do this anyway, but headbobs + posturing during mating season should be taken *VERY* seriously ~
