.... any opinions/advice is welcome!!
Just my opinion, but I have found that telling someone that they are doing it wrong or the heavy handed approach won't work, they usually take offence, think who are they to tell me that, and carry on as before, (especially if administered with a good slap..as much as we would all like :-)
I would try what we call Over here "a barrow load of Bulls**t" with a smile
Say, as you know nothing about water dragons you did some surfing to find out the care of them and was surprised to find out how much they eat and their needs etc, as you now have no need for the care sheet would they like it! at the same time you decided to print out Iguana care sheets for local Pet stores, these usually sell for a small fee, but they could have one of those free of charge too!! Most people like to think they are getting something for nothing and will probably give it a good looking over or....
Alternatively type up a couple of pages to look like they have come off web sites and tailor them for the specific problems you have noticed, making them look like care sheets in the process
eg: Part of the Iguana one could read...Iguanas should always be offered plenty of food so that the Iguana decides when it has had enough, with any extra then being taken away at the end of the day, this will help avoid a stunted Iguana which can result from insufficient feeding when other causes such as parasites etc have been ruled out by a vet
Also if they have given you permission to see a Vet then I would consider that
