Only thing that I can think of is to refer you to the best site on Salmonella I bookmarked + tell ya what Maders says that may fit..first Maders...basically: difficult skin sheds can happen to stressed or immunocompromised reptiles, the first sign of shed is when the warm soaks, increase humidity etc work best. After 2 weeks problems can result.. may need to see a vet and see if this retained shed is now fungal or bacterial in nature.Maders says Retained shed compromises the blood flow, shrinks as it dries resulting in necrosis (death) and sloughing of the affected part. Even tho this part is aimed at imported igs...I think it may be relevant here..."widespread focal, black raised lesions 1-5cm in diameter covering their entire surface, which resemble a multitude of tiny scabs. The etiology has been reported to be Geotrichum candidum" a fungal organism." Are you able to loosen any of it? I'd keep on with the warm compresses try the Nolvasan (the ointment type?)or apply a liberal amount of zinc oxide,or Vitamin A&D ointment on it can't hurt. Maybe twice a day early am and late evening see if that helps soften and loosen it.
As far as Salmonella on clothes neither Maders or the website says anything about salmonella "shelf life" on clothes...but Maders says: salmonella organisms can remain virulent(strong, live, thrive) in tap water for 89 days, pond water 115 days, pasture soil 120 days,
garden soil 280 days, 2 years in birdie poop, and almost 3 years in cow poopie...there ya have it!
The website Im listing also makes mention that antibiotics are ineffective in treating Salmonella :-(
I'd make sure poor Iz is well hydrated with the Baytril only can help his skin too.Have you checked out what MK has to say about it at her website? I think this retained shed is past the mineral oil stage, don't know..anyway...keep us posted. Hope Iz is on the mend super soon poor baby!
