Pine needles? UGH! I'd think that the sharp ends would get the iguana's eyes poked out or would cause tummy problems if the iguana decided to eat them.
I use newspaper for my iguana's substrate. It's cheap and if he messes it up, I can just throw it out and more is delivered to my door step every day.
