Majority of newspapers still use inorganic inks and dyes (hydrocarbon resins & fragances added known to be carcinogens) to print...supposedly from what I read eons ago most newspapers were switching to soy based inks because of enviromental issues, but don't know if this is world wide. The best thing is to get unprinted "end rolls" call local newspapers and buy bulk like a dollar for 50 feet of end roll. Paper towels w/ pretty designs do have inks too. Im not sure what type of ink is used. The all white ones are bleached. Don't know what impact this has on igs...remember when the all white coffee filters were such a controversy because the bleaching ...now hubby only uses the natural/brown filters...but can't remember the specifics about why the bleaching was so bad. Whatever works I guess....My herp vet is always posting a sign asking for newspaper so I guess if it was such a big deal he wouldn't use it for his pts(?). but then they aren't exposed to newsprint on a long term basis.
