I wanted to thank you all for your support and let Gina and Glenda know I haven't forgotten them, I wanted to reply to your posts from the other day:

Gina, I really did want to blame that vet, but I guess you're right that we can't put the responsibility of knowing everything on one person, when there is so much that is still unknown about the care of captive iguanas. I do think I will write him a letter though, to inform him of what happened so that he may be more careful to be more thorough in the future. As far as the sentence you were questioning in the report, I thought the wording was odd myself, but it does say "...with an adequate dietary supply of calcium." I'm guessing that means that he was getting plenty of calcium in his food but the supplement was providing too much D. No wait, that doesn't make sense. I don't know what that's supposed to mean. Anyway, as to his supplements - he was getting Four Paws brand "Nature's Reptile - Calcium" spray on his salad most days and then once a week I gave him a couple of squirts of T-Rex brand "Bio-Vite Plus" vitamin spray. The calcium spray has "the correct balance of Calcium/Phosphorous (2:1)& Vitamin D3", according to the bottle and I just noticed that the vitamin spray has D3 in it, too. As far as sun, the poor guy rarely got much real sun, mostly his full spectrum light (which it turns out, was overdue to be replaced). Anyway, I hope this helps with your research on D3.

Glenda, you had also asked about his light - he had a VitaLite but I don't know any of the specs on them, so if you know anything I should know, please tell.

Again, let me know if you would like a copy of the actual autopsy report. I finally recieved it in the mail yesterday, and I'd be happy to send it to you, to help you learn more about how to keep your babies healthy.

Hope I answered everything,
- Carrie
