Freeeeeeeeeeze them!!!!!Argghhhhhh!!!!!

I've had a pair of iguanas for for YEARS who have never even winked at each other and you want to freeze the babies!!!Sheeeesh!!!

Ok seriously though,I understand what you're saying.Iguanas have to be one of if not the most neglected and abused animals in the hobby.Their low price contributes to this as well as their impressive dinosaur-like appearance. But Im not gonna get into a big spiel about that.I can see why you would prefer just to end their life humanely rather then give them to a pet shop where they will most likely be sold to inexperienced people and languish for a few months in 10 gallon tanks with hot rocks and eventually die a painful, slow death. But it doesnt have to be like that.

If your females lay eggs, heres what I suggest. The moment you get eggs start advertising.A LOT of serious hobbyists would be VERY interested in captive born iguanas. You could also look into your local Herp society and find reputable people who would love to adopt them.I would bet a lot of folks from this very forum would love to have one.

Heres another tip. When advertising I wouldnt offer the animals for free. This is an old trick of the pet trade.People tend to take care of what they have to pay for. When something is given away most people tend to grab it on a whim and are loathe to spend money buying the proper euqipment for a free animal.Note I am saying "most" and not all. When selling to strangers though it is usually prudent to charge something as this helps to weed out the folks who just want a green toy to play with for a little while until they lose interest.

Having iguanas breed, lay fertile eggs and having the eggs hatch out healthy babies is a great achievement. It would be ashame to euthanize the young when there are plenty of caring people out there who would just love to have one or more of the little guys.

This is not hate mail nor is it meant to be a flame.Just making a few suggestions.
