Quite honestly, right now, I don't have the room, money, space nor inclination to incubate, hatch, raise and find homes for God only knows how many baby iguanas. Here I live, which is WA state, I have 4 people on my back *right now today* trying to get me to take their iguanas because they got too big, too mean, to expensivem whatever. That gives me very little hope for finding homes locally. I'm not experienced in shipping iguanas, and it's not something that I want to mess with. You may not realize I have 4 iguanas, all of which I adopted or rescued....unwanted lizards. If Shakai is gravid, she will almost certainly lay at least 25 eggs, maybe more. If even half of the eggs turn out to be fertile, I would be buried in iguanas and BILLS! What I can easilys ee happening is me hatching the eggs, having at least a dozen hatch and survive, and me b usting my *ss to try and find homes for them....good, loving, qualified homes. It wouldn't happen, and then what would I do with another dozen iguanas? WHo would have to be feed, potty trained, kept seperate, taken to the vet, etc. I may have room in my heart for a bunch of iguanas, but it's not an option. So what would I do then? Be sunk? Have them put to sleep? Even worse, selling or giving them to a pet store? Not bloody likely! IMO, it's better they die a humane and painless death before they even hatch...sorry, folks, but that's my decision. Also sorry if this sounds defensive, it wasn't intended that way. (well, maybe a little, but not much.)
Best,
Jamie/JBug
