I don't believe I have seen you post here before. If you have and I missed it my apologies. If not then welcome aboard!
By agreeing with Jamie that the most humane thing would be freezing when compared to the babies potential life if sold to a pet store you have aligned yourself the majority of people on this forum (although we do welcome differing opinions).
The suggestions you wrote were also good, I long for the day that they will be viable. How wonderful it would be to live in a world were the only place to get igs would be from captive breeders. And at a price that reflects the true value of these marvelous creatures.
However, currently, I just don't see them as terribly realistic. Their are just to many unwanted igs out there. People that truly love igs are (for the most part) no longer buying them, they are rescuing them. Sometimes, like in Jamie's case they are being swamped with people trying to dump igs on them. Although there are people with knowledge that opt to buy a hatchling. And your right, they do ,I believe, try to find a captive breeder if they are truly informed. I believe for them it is a desiree to start fresh. Avoid any potential problems a rescue might have. To know fully the history of the animal they are going to love, especially if this is their first. I cannot fault them, I personally would love to start fresh with a cute little green guy (I have one rescued ig). But right now they are few and far between.
Will the day come when your "suggestions" become common practice? I certainly hope so!! Until then I am with you and everyone else in supporting Jamie's decision to freeze.
Hope to see more from you!
Kayo
P.S. Jamie do you blush also when you walk in on them? I know I would feel terribly embarrassed (LOl)!
