Hello all.
About 11 years ago I bought an Iguana for my then 10
year-old son, knowing perfectly well that I would take care of
him. I grew up catching lizards in Florida, so I had no problem
with a reptile. We had him for about four years when he suddenly
became sluggish. I regret to this day that I didn't take him to a
vet. I had done a lot of research with my son (we spent many fun
Saturday mornings at the library) and thought that I was taking
good care of him. He died after several days of me trying to
force feed him. To this day I don't know why he died. The only
thing that I now know I did wrong was using wood shavings. They
might have been cedar, all I remember is that they were white,
like the one used in hamster cages. Everything else was correct,
from diet to temperature.
We just got the internet, and on a whim a decided to do some
investigating to find out what I did wrong. Maybe someone here
has an idea of what could have killed our precious "Jerry".
Thank you.
