Hognose spitting up?

I picked up me male Eastern yesterday to give him his weekly feed and he spat up a whole bunch of saliva! I'm wondering if anyone has seen this before? He was ticked off for sure, nothing new for a Hog, but I've never seen this with any of my Hogs, ever! Needless to say, he scared the hell out me, as I then did the prerequisite check for respiratory problems, blockages, etc., but nothing seemed wrong.

Anyway, he calmed down after a while and ate, so maybe he had just had a drink, or I really caught him off guard? I'd certainly appreciate some insight into this if anyone can offer some possible causes.

Thanx!
