switching to pinkie rats

I've got a male western hognose about 3 yrs. old. I've been feeding him frozen fuzzies and hoppers (mice). But I thought pinkie rats might be better for him, I would not switch back to mice, I relize he may become a picky eater and never eat mice again. Also hes about 18-20" and about as thick as my thumb (between a nickel and quarter)I'm not sure if that discription helps, but is he big enough to eat rats.
