Rough Green Snake (Opheodrys aestivus), about 20 inches long, not sure of age but young, came from a pet shop that gets their snakes from small breeders, captive bred, not sure of the tank size exactly, it's large but not huge and has a bit more height than width, temperature varies between 70 and 80 (day and night), one hide box, heater at one end, no cage mates, water dish shallow and wide, lots of greenery, newspaper substrate changed regularly.
I've had him for 2 months, and he hasn't eaten once since I got him. No symptoms of ill health other than weight loss and lack of energy within the last week. I have had it almost 2 months now.
I realise that they brumate, but the store had him active and eating. I tried brumating in the first month, but he stayed active. At this point, no, he won't survive brumation.
What I mean by the humane option is that if my snake is dying (of starvation most likely), and there's no way to help him (he's weak enough now that I'm not sure he could eat if he wanted to), do I let him die/help him die, or continue trying to help? I don't want to give up on him, but I also don't want to prolong death if there is in fact nothing I can do.
