I have been caring for herps for about 12 years now(im only 18)and i was recently offered a juvenile sidewinder (Crotalus cerastes).I as of yet have no experience with captive venomous snakes other than the occasonal hognose. I have photographed numerous rattlers in the field but have never actually kept one.I have dealt with some nasty scorpions so i understand the fact that if i get hit im REALLY SCREWED so I am thinking of getting it.It would live in an enclosure 6ft x 4ft and 5ft high that I used to keep a monitor in(nasty lil bugger). More than likely I will keep it in an shed outside, Im gona check the temp varients out there for a couple days to make sure it isnt to drastic, so if something goes terribly wrong and it escapes it will be outside.Do you think this would be a good canidate for a first hot-herp?Do you think Im ready at all?By the way do any of you have any personal insight on this species?
thank you
~Justin
