Frameless Door in Acrylic ???

I was wondering if anyone has experience with taking a single piece of Acrylic and cutting a door in the middle. Then use the cutout as the door itself. Is this even possible? The local glass shops said no way but I continue to see cage sites that do it. Is there a magic tool or bit to get this done? Any help would be great ... Here is an example of the BARRS site 2nd pic down on the right.
